Movie night that brings everyone together

Many “what to watch” apps are built for one person scrolling alone. WatchTonight is built for watching together: the family on the couch, friends working through a series, or a group that can’t wait to argue about the ending.

We’ll email you when WatchTonight opens, plus the free Friday Night Five newsletter with weekend picks. One email at a time, unsubscribe in one click. Privacy.

Four ways to watch together

Built around the people you watch with, not just the thing you watch.

👨‍👩‍👧 Family Night

Picks the whole house can agree on

  • Age-aware filters. Add each child’s age once. Picks stay at or below the rating that fits the youngest person watching tonight.
  • One kid veto a night. Every kid gets a real voice, and a parent PIN can override when needed.
  • Everyone’s own taste. Each person, kids too, does a quick poster check so picks fit the people actually on the couch.
  • Pass the phone or use your own. Vote on one phone or send a link. A two-minute timer keeps it from becoming a debate.
📺 Watch Club

A series, together, at your own pace

  • Private clubs. Pick one series, invite people with a link, and set a pace, like two episodes a week.
  • Spoiler locks. Reactions for an episode stay hidden until you mark it watched. No more muting the group chat.
  • See who’s caught up. Gentle progress, not pressure.
🔥 Hot Take Night

The ending is over. The fun isn’t.

  • Secret ratings. Everyone taps loved, liked, meh or hated, plus an optional one-liner. Nobody sees anyone else’s take until the reveal.
  • The reveal. See who loved it and who didn’t, and whether the room was united or split down the middle.
  • A share card. Save a card for the group chat, or post it if you want to. Nothing is shared unless you tap share.
🧠 Picks that learn

It learns each person, not just each phone

  • Thirty seconds to start. Swipe a few well-known titles: love it, nope, or haven’t seen.
  • One tap after watching. “Loved it” or “Nope”, and tomorrow’s picks get better.
  • Plain-English reasons. Every pick says why, in words you can check.
  • You’re in charge. See what it learned, edit it, or reset it anytime. Simple rules you can see, not a black box.

How it works

1

Choose your services

Tell us which streaming apps you already pay for. We only suggest what’s on those.

2

Say who’s watching

Just you, the family, or a group. Picks fit the people in the room.

3

Tap and watch

Three good options, each one tap from playing in the app you already have.

Our promises

Family-first, honest by design

🙅 No paid placements

Picks are never for sale. If we ever have sponsors, they’ll be clearly labeled and kept separate from your picks.

🔒 Kids’ details stay home

In our current design, household names and kids’ ages stay on your device. We keep only the taste settings needed to make picks.

🚫 No selling, no ad tracking

We don’t sell your data, and this site sets no cookies and uses no ad trackers.

👀 Rules you can see

No AI picks behind your back. Picks follow clear rules, and you can see and edit what the app learned.

🙏 Wholesome by default

When kids are watching, rating limits are on by default, and only a parent can loosen them.
